Description

These Bisquick Brownies are a quick and easy dessert made with a simple blend of melted chocolate, butter, eggs, sugars, and Bisquick baking mix. They result in moist, fudgy brownies with a delightful texture, enhanced by optional chopped walnuts for added crunch. Perfect for a sweet treat or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ⅔ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9-inch cake pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a large bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and butter. Microwave at 50% power for 1 minute, then stir. Repeat microwaving and stirring in 1-minute intervals until the mixture is completely smooth. Let it cool slightly to avoid cooking the eggs in the next step.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Whisk the eggs, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract into the melted chocolate and butter mixture until fully combined.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Gently fold the Bisquick baking mix into the wet ingredients just until incorporated. Avoid overmixing to maintain a tender brownie texture. Stir in the chopped walnuts if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared 9-inch pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to keep brownies moist and fudgy.
  • Chopped walnuts add great texture but can be omitted for nut-free brownies.
  • Use a toothpick or cake tester to check doneness starting at 30 minutes.
  • Allow brownies to cool in the pan before cutting for cleaner slices.
  • Bisquick baking mix acts as a shortcut for traditional flour and leavening agents.
