Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 cups Bisquick baking mix
- 2/3 cup milk
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch round or square baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Make the Dough: In a medium bowl, combine Bisquick baking mix and milk, stirring until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently 5–6 times to bring it together without overworking.
- Roll Out the Dough: Roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4-inch thick, providing a base for the filling.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Brush the melted butter evenly over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered surface.
- Form the Rolls: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Slice the log into 8 equal pieces. Place each slice cut-side up into the prepared baking dish, spacing them slightly.
- Bake the Rolls: Bake in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls are cooked through.
- Make the Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Glaze and Serve: After baking, allow the cinnamon rolls to cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top. Serve the rolls warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For added texture and flavor, consider incorporating chopped nuts or raisins into the filling.
- These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be gently reheated in the microwave the next day for a warm treat.
