This Bobby Flay Salisbury Steak recipe is a gourmet twist on a classic comfort food favorite. Juicy ground beef patties are seasoned to perfection, smothered in a rich mushroom onion gravy, and served with creamy mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles.

			For the steak patties:
- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20)
 - ½ cup finely chopped onion
 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
 - ½ cup breadcrumbs
 - 1 large egg
 - 2 tablespoons milk
 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
 
For the mushroom onion gravy:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
 - 1 cup thinly sliced yellow onion
 - 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
 - 2 cups beef broth (low sodium)
 - 1 tablespoon tomato paste
 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
 - ½ teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 
Instructions
- Prepare the steak patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, and parsley. Shape into oval patties.
 - Cook the patties: Brown the patties in a skillet, then set aside.
 - Make the mushroom onion gravy: Sauté onions and mushrooms, add flour, then broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Simmer until thickened.
 - Combine and simmer: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer until heated through.
 - Serve: Enjoy hot with mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles.
 
Notes
- For extra flavor, deglaze the skillet with red wine before adding the broth.
 - You can also add a touch of cream at the end for a richer sauce.
