Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cream of tartar
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shea butter or cocoa butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
- 1 teaspoon polysorbate 80 (optional, helps disperse oils in water)
- 10–15 drops bramble berry peach fragrance oil (skin-safe)
- Mica powder or natural coloring (optional)
Garnish (Optional)
- Dried rose petals or lavender buds
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and cream of tartar. Break up any clumps to ensure a smooth mixture.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, stir together the melted shea butter, sweet almond oil, polysorbate 80 (if using), and bramble berry peach fragrance oil. Add mica powder or natural coloring if you desire a tint.
- Incorporate Wet into Dry: Slowly drizzle the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, mixing continuously. Continue until the mixture has the texture of wet sand and holds its shape when pressed. If it feels too dry, add melted butter or oil in one teaspoon increments until the right consistency is achieved.
- Mold and Garnish: Scoop the mixture firmly into silicone molds. Sprinkle dried rose petals or lavender buds on top if using, pressing them in gently.
- Drying: Allow the bath truffles to sit at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours until completely hardened and dry to the touch.
- Usage: To enjoy, drop one bath truffle into a warm bath. It will fizz and release nourishing oils along with the peach fragrance, creating a luxurious bathing experience.
Notes
- Store bath truffles in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to maintain their fizz and scent.
- For best quality, use within 2 to 3 months of making.
- Always perform a patch test before using fragrance or essential oils to ensure no skin sensitivity.
- You can customize the scent and color with different fragrance oils and mica powders to suit your preference.
