Description

Cheeseburger Stuffed Flatbreads are a delicious and easy-to-make meal featuring seasoned ground beef mixed with melted cheddar cheese, all stuffed inside soft flatbreads and toasted to golden perfection. This comforting dish combines classic cheeseburger flavors in a handheld sandwich-style pocket, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a fun family meal. Optional toppings like pickles, lettuce, and tomato add freshness and extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheeseburger Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Flatbreads & Cooking

  • 46 soft flatbreads (such as naan or pita)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil for toasting

Optional Toppings

  • Chopped pickles
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomato
  • Extra ketchup or mustard for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook Ground Beef and Onion: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and finely diced onion until the beef is browned and cooked through, breaking up the meat into small crumbles. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  2. Season Beef Mixture: Stir in ketchup, yellow mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes so the flavors meld together. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Combine Cheese: Stir the shredded cheddar cheese into the slightly cooled beef mixture until evenly combined, ensuring the cheese begins to melt into the warm filling.
  4. Assemble Flatbreads: Spoon the cheeseburger filling onto one half of each flatbread. Fold the flatbread over or top with another flatbread to create a sandwich pocket. Press gently along the seams to seal the edges.
  5. Toast Stuffed Flatbreads: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter or add oil. Cook each stuffed flatbread for 2 to 3 minutes per side until the exterior turns golden brown and crispy and the cheese inside is thoroughly melted.
  6. Serve: Slice the stuffed flatbreads and serve warm. Offer optional toppings such as pickles, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, or extra ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping or garnish.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought flatbreads or prepare your own for this recipe.
  • For a spicier version, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the filling mixture before assembling.
  • Instead of stovetop toasting, bake the stuffed flatbreads in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes for a hands-off approach.
