Description

This Cheesy Baked Asparagus Recipe is a quick and delicious side dish featuring tender-crisp asparagus spears topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Perfectly seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and baked to golden, bubbly perfection, this dish makes a flavorful and nutritious addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 1 pound, trimmed)

Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cheeses

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the asparagus.
  2. Prepare Asparagus: Arrange the trimmed asparagus spears in a single layer on a baking sheet to ensure even cooking.
  3. Season Asparagus: Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil and sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss gently to coat the spears thoroughly.
  4. Bake Asparagus: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the asparagus for 10–12 minutes, or until they become tender-crisp.
  5. Add Cheese: Remove the asparagus from the oven and evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  6. Finish Baking: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 2–4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish & Serve: Optionally, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the asparagus for a pop of color and fresh flavor, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice over the asparagus just before serving.
  • You can substitute the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses with other cheeses such as provolone or fontina to suit your taste.
