- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk (plus 1–2 tablespoons more if needed)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives or parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese and herbs. Pour in buttermilk and stir until dough comes together.
- Shape and bake: Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, fold for layers, cut out biscuits, and place on the baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Serve: Serve warm with butter.
Notes
- For extra cheesy flavor, sprinkle shredded cheese on top before baking.
- Brush the tops with melted butter after baking for a glossy finish.
