Description

These Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack featuring soft pizza dough topped with garlic butter, gooey mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, perfectly seasoned with Italian herbs and served with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Garlic Butter

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

Cheese & Seasonings

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish & Serving

  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza stone to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick and transfer it to the prepared baking surface.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with the minced garlic, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Brush Garlic Butter on Dough: Generously brush the garlic butter mixture over the surface of the rolled-out pizza dough, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasoning: Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese across the dough, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese. Then season with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks: Place the prepared dough in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the cheese melts, becomes bubbly, and develops a golden-brown color around the edges.
  7. Garnish and Slice: Remove from the oven and allow the breadsticks to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for added flavor and color. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice into breadsticks.
  8. Serve: Serve the cheesy garlic breadsticks warm alongside marinara sauce for dipping, making a perfect appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture if preferred.
  • The breadsticks can be prepared ahead and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
