Description

Indulge in the creamy and flavorful delight of Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes. Layers of thinly sliced potatoes smothered in a rich garlic-infused cheese sauce, baked to golden perfection. A perfect side dish for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, thinly sliced (about 1/8 inch thick)

Cheese Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the cheese sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic, cook until fragrant. Whisk in flour to form a roux. Slowly add milk and cream, simmer until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and cheddar cheese.
  3. Layer the potatoes: Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
  4. Add cheese topping: Sprinkle remaining cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Rest and garnish: Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for evenly sliced potatoes.
  • For added flavor, consider layering cooked bacon or sautéed onions.
  • This dish can be prepared in advance and reheated before serving.
