Base
- 6 slices thick Texas toast square sandwich bread
- 6 tablespoons prepared pizza sauce (1 tablespoon per slice)
- 2 cups freshly shredded mozzarella cheese (approximately ⅓ cup per slice)
Toppings
- 18 slices pepperoni (3 per slice of bread)
- ⅓ cup sliced button mushrooms
- ⅓ cup diced green bell pepper
- ⅓ cup diced red onion
- 4 fresh basil leaves, julienned
Instructions
- Preheat and Toast Bread: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and lay out the bread slices in a single layer. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes until the bread starts to toast but is not fully browned.
- Add Toppings: Remove the toasted bread from the oven and flip each slice over. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly on each slice. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese on top, then add 3 pepperoni slices per slice of bread. Distribute mushrooms, green bell pepper, and red onion pieces evenly over each slice. Finally, top each with an additional 2 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake: Return the topped bread slices to the oven and bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the cheese has fully melted and develops some golden brown spots.
- Serve: Remove the pizza toast from the oven and sprinkle with julienned fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately and enjoy your quick, tasty pizza toasts!
Notes
- You can customize toppings to your preference, such as adding olives or different cheeses.
- For a crispier crust, toast the bread slightly longer before adding toppings.
- Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture if desired.
- To make it vegetarian, omit the pepperoni and add extra vegetables.
