Description

Cheesy Taco Breadsticks are a deliciously easy-to-make appetizer or snack featuring seasoned taco meat and melted cheeses wrapped in soft pizza dough. Perfect for game days, kid-friendly dinners, or quick party snacks, these breadsticks combine the flavorful spices of taco seasoning with gooey cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, all baked to a golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 tube refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade)

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked ground beef or ground turkey, seasoned with taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions

Toppings & Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder

Optional For Serving

  • Chopped cilantro
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Guacamole

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On the prepared baking sheet, roll the pizza dough into a rectangle approximately 9 by 13 inches, creating a flat base for the filling.
  3. Add Filling: Spread the seasoned taco meat evenly over half of the dough’s surface. Then sprinkle the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and chopped green onions evenly on top of the meat.
  4. Fold and Seal: Fold the other half of the dough over the cheese and meat filling. Press down firmly along the edges to seal the dough and prevent filling from leaking out during baking.
  5. Slice the Breadsticks: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the folded dough into 1-inch wide strips, being careful not to cut all the way through so the breadsticks remain connected.
  6. Add Seasoning: Brush the top of the dough with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with garlic powder and chili powder to add extra flavor and a touch of spice.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the breadsticks turn golden brown and are cooked through.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the breadsticks to cool slightly. Re-cut along the pre-sliced lines to separate them and serve warm with optional sides like sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.
