			Dry Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate fudge cake mix (15.25 oz)

Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup Cherry Dr Pepper soda
 - 1/2 cup vegetable oil
 - 3 large eggs
 - 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Add-ins & Toppings
- 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries (plus extra for garnish)
 - 1 tub (16 oz) whipped chocolate frosting or homemade chocolate frosting

Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
 - Mix Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate fudge cake mix, Cherry Dr Pepper soda, vegetable oil, eggs, and almond extract if using. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat the ingredients for 2 minutes until the batter is smooth and well combined.
 - Fold in Cherries: Gently fold the chopped maraschino cherries into the batter, distributing them evenly throughout.
 - Transfer Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula to create an even surface.
 - Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center — it should come out clean when the cake is done.
 - Cool and Frost: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, spread the whipped chocolate frosting evenly over the cake.
 - Garnish: Decorate with additional maraschino cherries on top of the frosting for a festive touch. Slice and serve.

Notes
- For cupcakes, divide the batter among cupcake liners and bake at 350°F for 18 to 20 minutes.
 - Enhance the cherry flavor by drizzling cherry syrup from the jar over the cake or cupcakes before serving.
