Description

Indulge in the delightful combination of chocolate and cinnamon with these scrumptious Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls. These soft, fluffy rolls are filled with a sweet cocoa-cinnamon mixture and topped with a vanilla glaze for the perfect treat any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

For the dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in sugar, melted butter, and egg. Add flour and salt and mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Punch down the dough and roll it into a 10×15-inch rectangle. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cocoa, and cinnamon. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the sugar mixture and chocolate chips.
  4. Roll up tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal rolls. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–40 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  6. While they cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • You can prepare the rolls ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking. Let them come to room temperature before placing in the oven.
