Description

Indulge in the rich and creamy decadence of this Classic Italian Tiramisu. Layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and luscious mascarpone cream, dusted with cocoa powder and dark chocolate shavings, create the perfect dessert for any occasion.

Egg Yolk Mixture:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream

Mascarpone Filling:

  • 1 pound (16 oz) mascarpone cheese (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Other:

  • 2 cups brewed espresso or strong coffee (cooled)
  • 3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 package (7 oz) ladyfinger cookies (Savoiardi)
  • unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Egg Yolk Mixture: In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and thickened. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  2. Whipped Cream: Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  3. Mascarpone Filling: Combine mascarpone cheese with vanilla extract, then fold in egg yolk mixture. Gently fold in whipped cream.
  4. Assembly: Dip ladyfingers in coffee mixture and layer in dish. Spread mascarpone filling over ladyfingers. Repeat layers. Chill for at least 6 hours.
  5. Serving: Dust top with cocoa powder and chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso for best flavor.
  • Omit coffee liqueur for a non-alcoholic version.
  • Tiramisu can be made ahead and improves with time.
