- 2 1/2 cups seafood or chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Seafood:
- 1/2 lb lump crab meat, picked over for shells
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large pot, heat butter and olive oil, then sauté onion and celery until soft. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Make Roux: Sprinkle in flour, stir to make a light roux, then slowly add white wine, stirring until slightly reduced.
- Add Broth and Cream: Gradually whisk in broth, then add cream, milk, Old Bay, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–12 minutes.
- Cook Seafood: Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque. Stir in crab meat and simmer until heated through.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice, and garnish with parsley. Serve hot.
