Ingredients
Scale
Wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Sauce
- Your favorite wing sauce or glaze (e.g., buffalo, BBQ, honey garlic)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Wings: Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. Thoroughly pat the chicken wings dry using paper towels to ensure they crisp up during baking.
- Season the Wings: In a large mixing bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper if using. Make sure each wing is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Arrange and Bake: Place the wings in a single layer on the wire rack set over the baking sheet. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through to ensure even crisping and browning.
- Rest and Sauce: Once baked, remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Then toss the hot wings in your favorite sauce or serve the sauce on the side for dipping according to your preference.
Notes
- For extra crispy wings, let them rest uncovered in the refrigerator for a few hours before baking.
- Air fryer option: Cook wings at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking for even crisping.
