Ingredients
Scale
Sandwich Components
- 1 English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 8 slices white or whole wheat sandwich bread, crusts removed
Cream Cheese Spread
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese spread: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are smoothly blended and evenly combined to create a flavorful spread.
- Spread the bread slices: Lay the bread slices on a clean, flat surface. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto all the slices, ensuring each piece is coated thoroughly for balanced flavor in every bite.
- Assemble with cucumber: On half of the cream cheese–covered bread slices, arrange the thin cucumber slices in a single layer. This creates a fresh, cool layer that complements the creamy spread.
- Form the sandwiches: Place the remaining bread slices on top of the cucumber-covered slices, cream cheese side down, to form complete sandwiches. Press gently to secure the layers together.
- Trim and cut sandwiches: Using a sharp knife, trim any crusts if they remain, then cut each sandwich into halves or quarters based on your preferred serving size. This helps make the sandwiches more elegant and bite-sized.
- Serve or store: Serve the sandwiches immediately for the freshest experience. Alternatively, cover them with a damp paper towel and plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve, keeping them moist and fresh.
Notes
- Best served the same day to maintain freshness and texture.
- For added flavor and elegance, sprinkle the cucumber slices with a pinch of flaky sea salt before assembling.
- Garnish sandwiches with microgreens for a decorative touch.
- Use very thinly sliced cucumber to keep the sandwiches delicate and avoid overpowering the bread and spread.
