Description

Easter Dirt Cake is a fun and festive dessert perfect for spring celebrations. This no-bake treat features layers of creamy pudding, crushed Golden Oreos, and colorful candy toppings, creating a delightful and indulgent dessert that’s sure to please both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Golden Oreos (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

For the Pudding Layer:

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

For Toppings:

  • Pastel-colored M&M’s or candy eggs
  • Marshmallow Peeps
  • Green-tinted shredded coconut (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Golden Oreos: In a food processor or plastic bag, crush the Golden Oreos until fine crumbs form. Set aside 1 cup for topping.
  2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, beat the butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Make the Pudding Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk the pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Fold in the whipped topping.
  4. Combine the Mixtures: Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese mixture and beat until well combined.
  5. Layer the Cake: In a 9×13-inch baking dish or trifle bowl, layer half the crushed Oreos, then spread half the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers, ending with the reserved crushed Oreos on top.
  6. Decorate and Chill: Decorate the top with candy eggs, Peeps, and green-tinted coconut “grass” if desired. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • To tint coconut green, mix 1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut with a drop of green food coloring in a zip-top bag and shake until evenly colored.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
