Description

These Easter Rice Krispie Treats are a delightful, festive twist on the classic marshmallow cereal snack. Loaded with colorful candy-coated chocolate eggs and sweet Easter sprinkles, they make a perfect no-bake dessert for spring celebrations. Easy to prepare on the stovetop with simple ingredients, these treats are chewy, buttery, and fun to eat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Decorations

  • Pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs or mini eggs
  • Easter sprinkles

Additional

  • Nonstick spray or butter (for greasing pan)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray and set it aside to ensure the treats don’t stick once pressed.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until they are fully melted and the mixture is smooth, making sure not to burn it.
  3. Add Vanilla Extract: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using to add a subtle flavor depth.
  4. Mix in Cereal: Quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal until all pieces are evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture, making sure to work fast so the mixture doesn’t harden.
  5. Add Candy Eggs: Gently stir in some of the pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs, reserving a few for decorating the top of the treats.
  6. Press into Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press it evenly using a buttered spatula or a piece of wax paper to avoid sticking.
  7. Decorate: While the mixture is still warm, press additional candy eggs and Easter sprinkles into the top to create a festive look.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature for about 30–45 minutes until firm. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use Easter-themed cookie cutters after the treats have slightly cooled for fun shaped treats.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture to create pastel-colored treats.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
