Description

These Eyeball Jello Shots are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween or any party. Made with strawberry gelatin and vodka, topped with gummy eyeball candies, they offer a sweet and boozy delight that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 3 ounce box Strawberry Jell-O gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup vodka

Topping

  • 12 gummy eyeball candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare Gelatin: In a large bowl with a pour spout, combine the strawberry gelatin powder and boiling water. Whisk thoroughly until the gelatin has completely dissolved to ensure a smooth mixture.
  2. Add Liquids: Whisk in the cold water followed by the vodka, blending all ingredients evenly to incorporate the alcohol into the mixture.
  3. Fill Cups: Arrange twelve 2-ounce jello shot cups on a rimmed tray to avoid spills. Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into each cup up to the fill line, leaving about ⅛ inch of space at the top for expansion.
  4. Initial Chill: Place the tray in the refrigerator for 1 to 1½ hours until the gelatin is partially set and firms up slightly. This step is crucial for the eyeball candies to sit properly on top.
  5. Add Eyeballs and Final Chill: Gently place one gummy eyeball candy on the surface of each partially set jello shot. Return the tray to the refrigerator for 1½ hours to overnight to allow the gelatin to fully set and firm up.
  6. Store and Serve: Once completely set, secure lids on each jello shot cup. Keep them refrigerated until ready to serve, making them easy to store and transport.

Notes

  • For best results, use 2-ounce sized cups specifically designed for jello shots.
  • Adjust the amount of vodka if you prefer stronger or lighter alcohol content.
  • Make sure the jello is partially set before adding the gummy eyeballs to prevent them from sinking.
  • You can prepare these shots up to 24 hours in advance for convenience.
  • Use a rimmed tray when filling to avoid spills in the refrigerator.
