Description
This Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Cheesy Smashed Potatoes recipe combines tender, flavorful steak bites with crispy, cheesy smashed potatoes for a comforting and delicious meal perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak Bites
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into cubes
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Cheesy Smashed Potatoes
- 1 lb baby potatoes
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Smashed Potatoes: Boil the baby potatoes in salted water until they are tender when pierced with a fork. Drain thoroughly and allow them to cool slightly for easier handling.
- Smash and Cook the Potatoes: Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat. Gently smash each boiled potato with the bottom of a glass or a fork to flatten them slightly. Drizzle olive oil over the potatoes and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the outsides are golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Add Cheese and Garnish: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the crispy potatoes and cover the pan to allow the cheese to melt, about 2-3 minutes. Once melted, remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped chives.
- Cook the Garlic Butter Steak Bites: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the sirloin steak cubes, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the steak bites are browned and cooked to your preferred doneness, about 5-7 minutes.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove the steak bites from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately alongside the cheesy smashed potatoes for a hearty, flavorful meal.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor in the garlic butter sauce.
- Baby potatoes work best for smashing due to their size and texture.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite melting cheese like mozzarella or Monterey Jack.
- Adjust cooking time of steak bites depending on your desired doneness.
- For crispier potatoes, make sure the skillet or griddle is properly preheated before cooking.
