Shrimp and Pasta
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 pound pasta (any type)
Sauce and Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pasta dish later.
- Cook Pasta: Boil the pasta according to the package directions until al dente, then drain and set it aside.
- Cook Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until softened, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Make Roux: Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.
- Add Milk: Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Add Cheese and Seasoning: Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce is combined.
- Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked pasta and shrimp into the cheese sauce; stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare to Bake: Pour the shrimp and pasta mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the dish is bubbly and heated through.
