Description

Indulge in a ghoulishly delightful Halloween Trifle that’s a perfect spooky treat for your festivities. Layers of chocolate cake, creamy pudding, and whipped topping, adorned with fun Halloween candies and decorations, make this dessert a frightfully delicious delight.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients on package)

For the Pudding Layer:

  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk

For Assembly:

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ½ cup candy corn
  • ½ cup Halloween sprinkles
  • Gummy worms, marshmallow ghosts, or candy eyes for decoration
  • Optional drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Bake the Chocolate Cake: Prepare and bake the chocolate cake according to package directions. Let it cool completely, then cut into cubes.
  2. Make the Pudding Layer: In a mixing bowl, whisk the pudding mix with cold milk until thickened. Fold in half of the whipped topping to create a light mousse.
  3. Assemble the Trifle: In a large clear trifle dish or glass bowl, layer half of the cake cubes, half of the pudding mixture, a sprinkle of crushed cookies, and some candy corn. Repeat the layers. Spread the remaining whipped topping over the top.
  4. Garnish and Chill: Garnish the trifle with remaining crushed cookies, sprinkles, gummy worms, and marshmallow ghosts or candy eyes. Drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce if desired. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • You can swap the chocolate cake for brownies for a richer dessert.
  • For an orange-and-black look, tint half the whipped topping with orange food coloring before layering.
