Description

This Hawaiian Pizza recipe features a crispy golden crust topped with savory cooked bacon and ham, sweet fresh pineapple, melty shredded mozzarella cheese, and optional shiitake mushrooms for added earthiness. Finished with fresh basil and a touch of black pepper, it’s a delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors perfect for a quick homemade meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • portion pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)

Toppings

  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • ½ cup cooked ham, cubed
  • ½ cup fresh pineapple, cubed
  • ½ cup sliced shiitake mushrooms (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it inside the oven during the preheating process to get it nice and hot, which helps achieve a crispy crust.
  2. Assemble Pizza: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough onto the hot pizza stone or a baking sheet if you don’t have one. Spread the pizza sauce evenly across the dough’s surface. Next, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Then, evenly distribute the chopped cooked bacon, cubed ham, fresh pineapple pieces, and sliced shiitake mushrooms if using.
  3. Bake: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbling.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven. Sprinkle fresh chopped basil over the top and season with ground black pepper to your taste. Slice the pizza and serve hot for the best experience.

Notes

  • Using a pizza stone helps in achieving a crispier crust but is optional.
  • If you prefer a less sweet pizza, reduce the amount of pineapple or omit it.
  • Cook the bacon and ham beforehand to avoid extra grease on the pizza.
  • Add mushrooms based on preference; shiitake adds an earthy flavor that complements the ham and pineapple.
  • Allow pizza dough to come to room temperature before rolling out for easier handling.
