Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Layer
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
Biscuits
- 2 (6-oz) cans refrigerated biscuits (10 total biscuits)
Cheese
- 1 cup shredded Velveeta cheese
- 1 cup shredded muenster cheese
Egg Mixture
- 6 large eggs
- 1¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set aside.
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until it is no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain off the excess grease to keep the casserole from being oily.
- Assemble Biscuit and Sausage Layers: Quarter the refrigerated biscuits and spread evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the biscuits, then sprinkle the shredded Velveeta and muenster cheeses on top.
- Mix Egg Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Pour and Bake: Carefully pour the egg mixture over the cheese-covered biscuits and sausage in the baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the egg mixture is set.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. This helps the dish to set fully and makes it easier to cut into portions.
Notes
- You can substitute the breakfast sausage with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- Feel free to add diced bell peppers or onions to the sausage mixture for extra flavor and texture.
- Make sure to drain the sausage well to prevent the casserole from becoming too greasy.
- This dish can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning for convenience.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
