Description

This Honey Dijon Garlic Chicken Breasts recipe is a flavorful, easy-to-make baked chicken dish featuring tender, juicy breasts glazed with a delicious honey, Dijon mustard, and garlic sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this recipe delivers a savory-sweet balance that pleases the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each
  • Pinch salt and pepper, to season

Glaze

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp whole grain Dijon mustard
  • Pinch salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare for baking.
  2. Prepare the baking pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving enough space around each chicken breast. Place the pan into the oven to heat up while you prepare the glaze.
  3. Make the glaze: In a small sauté pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds, stirring often, until softened but not browned.
  4. Add glaze ingredients: Stir in the honey, whole grain Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reduces slightly and thickens.
  5. Season chicken: Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper.
  6. Arrange chicken and glaze in pan: Carefully remove the hot baking pan from the oven and arrange the chicken breasts evenly with space between them. Pour the hot glaze evenly over the chicken breasts, coating them well.
  7. Bake the chicken: Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Baste and continue baking: Remove the pan, baste the chicken with the glaze pooled in the pan, then return it to the oven. Continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 170°F (77°C) with a meat thermometer.
  9. Rest the chicken: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. This helps redistribute the juices for moist, tender meat.
  10. Serve: Serve the chicken breasts warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • You can substitute whole grain Dijon mustard with regular Dijon mustard if preferred.
  • For clearer cooking times, the chicken should bake for a total of 30-35 minutes at 425°F (220°C).
  • Letting the chicken rest after baking ensures juicier meat.
  • Make sure not to brown the garlic when cooking the glaze, as it can cause bitterness.
