Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Seasoning
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Sauce and Garnish
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season and Sear: Season the sirloin steak cubes generously with salt and black pepper. Heat 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak cubes and sear for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Remove the seared steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare Sauce: Reduce heat to medium. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and melt it. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burnt. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes if using. Let the sauce simmer gently for 1 to 2 minutes until it thickens slightly into a glaze.
- Combine and Finish: Return the steak bites to the skillet with the honey garlic glaze. Toss everything thoroughly to coat the steak evenly. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to meld together.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the steak bites for a burst of color and freshness. Serve immediately while hot, either as a main dish or appetizer.
Notes
- For spicier bites, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer the glaze a bit longer before adding the steak back in.
- Use a cast iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan to achieve better searing.
- Let the steak cubes rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain juices.
- Serve with steamed rice, vegetables, or crusty bread for a complete meal.
