Description

The Jamaican Purple Rain is a vibrant and refreshing tropical cocktail featuring a harmonious blend of coconut rum, blue curaçao, cranberry, and pineapple juices. This layered drink is visually stunning and perfect for Caribbean-themed gatherings or any occasion that calls for a flavorful, exotic beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Alcoholic Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz coconut rum
  • 1 oz blue curaçao
  • 1 oz grenadine

Mixers

  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice

Additional

  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh pineapple wedge or cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shaker: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes to chill the mixture properly.
  2. Add ingredients: Pour in the coconut rum, blue curaçao, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice into the shaker.
  3. Shake well: Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously until the mixture is well chilled and combined.
  4. Layer grenadine: Pour grenadine into the bottom of a tall glass carefully to maintain its position as the base layer.
  5. Strain drink: Slowly strain the shaken cocktail mixture over the grenadine to create a beautiful layered effect.
  6. Garnish and serve: Finish by adding a fresh pineapple wedge or cherry on the rim for presentation and serve immediately to enjoy the fresh tropical flavors.

Notes

  • For a more dramatic layered appearance, pour the drink slowly over the back of a spoon to control flow and layering.
  • You can substitute white rum for coconut rum if you prefer a less tropical flavor.
  • Serve over crushed ice for a slushier texture and a colder drinking experience.
