Description
Magic Cookie Bars, also known as Seven Layer Bars, are a classic dessert featuring layers of graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate and butterscotch chips, coconut, and nuts. These easy-to-make bars are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
Crust:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
Layers:
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F.
Prepare Crust: Pour melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over the butter and press lightly to form a crust.
Add Layers: Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crumbs. Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, and nuts on top, pressing down gently with a spatula.
Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
Cool and Serve: Cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- You can substitute peanut butter chips for the butterscotch chips, or almonds for the walnuts, for a flavor twist.
- For easier slicing, refrigerate bars for 1–2 hours after cooling.
