Description

A hearty and flavorful Meat Lovers Puff Pancake Breakfast Casserole that combines fluffy puff pancake batter with savory smoked gouda, cheddar cheese, ham, sausage, and bacon. This baked breakfast dish is perfect for feeding a crowd and offers a delicious, protein-packed start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale

Batter and Cheese

  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 2 cups milk (divided)
  • 8 eggs (divided)
  • 1 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Meats

  • ½ lb cubed cooked ham
  • ½ lb cooked sausage
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped

Seasonings

  • ¼ tsp dry mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Spray a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Add Melted Butter: Pour the melted butter evenly into the prepared baking dish, spreading it across the bottom. Set aside.
  3. Make First Batter Layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups of Bisquick mix, 1 cup of the milk, and 2 eggs until smooth. Pour this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Add Cheese and Meats: Sprinkle the shredded smoked gouda cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cubed cooked ham, cooked sausage, and chopped cooked bacon evenly over the batter layer in the dish.
  5. Prepare Second Batter Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the remaining 6 eggs, the remaining 1 cup of milk, salt, pepper, and dry mustard until well combined.
  6. Pour Second Batter Over Casserole: Carefully pour this egg and milk mixture over the layered casserole, ensuring it spreads evenly to cover all ingredients.
  7. Bake the Casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed and has a golden brown color on top.
  8. Rest Before Serving: Remove from the oven and let the casserole stand for 10 minutes to set before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use freshly cooked sausage and bacon.
  • Leftover casserole can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated.
  • You can substitute smoked gouda with another flavorful cheese if preferred.
  • Adjust seasonings to taste, especially salt since the meats and cheeses add saltiness.
  • This casserole is great for brunch or breakfast gatherings.
