Description

This Mint-To-Be Protein Shake is a refreshing and nutritious treat made with creamy yogurt, vanilla protein powder, and a hint of mint extract. Using the Ninja Creami, this shake transforms into a smooth, ice-cream-like dessert that’s perfect for a post-workout snack or a guilt-free indulgence. With optional toppings like whipped cream and sprinkles, it offers a fun and delicious way to enjoy a protein boost with a cool minty twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 240 ml (1 cup) 2% milk, divided + more for blending
  • 6 g gelatin
  • 35 ml (2 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 113 g (½ cup) full-fat plain skyr or Greek yogurt
  • 34 g (1 scoop) vanilla protein powder
  • ¼ tsp mint extract (not peppermint)
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Warm Gelatin: In a small saucepan, gently warm half of the milk over low heat and whisk in the gelatin until it is fully dissolved, ensuring a smooth mixture without any lumps.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Pour the warm gelatin mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container. Add the remaining milk, maple syrup, yogurt, vanilla protein powder, mint extract, a pinch of kosher salt, and green food coloring if desired for visual appeal.
  3. Blend Mixture: Blend all the ingredients in the pint container until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in texture, preparing it for freezing.
  4. Freeze: Place the sealed pint container in the freezer and freeze it for 24 hours to allow the mixture to solidify adequately.
  5. Process in Ninja Creami: After freezing, process the pint using the “Lite Ice Cream” function on the Ninja Creami to transform the frozen mixture into a creamy, protein-packed treat.
  6. Adjust Texture: If the texture is crumbly after processing, add a splash of milk and re-spin using the Ninja Creami until the shake becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Add Toppings and Serve: Top with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired, and serve the Mint-To-Be Protein Shake immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use 2% milk for a balance of creaminess and lower fat content; whole milk could be used for a richer taste.
  • Do not substitute peppermint extract for mint extract as they have different flavor profiles.
  • If green food coloring is not available or preferred, the shake will still taste delicious without it.
  • The Ninja Creami is essential for the texture; alternative blending and freezing methods may not yield the same creamy consistency.
  • This recipe yields one serving and can be scaled up by preparing multiple pints.
  • The shake is best enjoyed immediately after processing in the Ninja Creami for optimal creaminess.
