Description

Mississippi Sin Quiche is a rich and flavorful savory pie filled with diced ham, creamy cheeses, and a blend of tangy and spicy seasonings. Baked to perfection in a deep-dish pie crust, this quiche combines the heartiness of ham with the smoothness of cream cheese and cheddar, topped with fresh green onions for a delightful finish. Perfect for brunch or a comforting meal, this recipe offers a delicious Southern-inspired twist on classic quiche.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • ¼ tsp hot sauce
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tbsp sour cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 eggs

Crust

  • 1 (9-inch) deep dish pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) to prepare for baking the quiche.
  2. Heat Ham: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the diced ham for 3 to 5 minutes to remove excess moisture and enhance the flavor. Then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Make Ham Mixture: In a bowl, combine the warmed ham with cream cheese, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until well mixed.
  4. Assemble Base: Spread the ham and cream cheese mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared deep dish pie crust. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions evenly over the ham mixture.
  5. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, and heavy cream until smooth and fully combined.
  6. Pour and Bake: Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese layers in the pie crust. Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 60 minutes or until the filling is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Notes

  • Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Use a deep dish pie crust to ensure enough room for the filling without spilling.
  • Adjust the hot sauce to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • This quiche can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
