Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Filling
- 1 cup fresh or canned peaches, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until smooth.
- Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for 6 to 8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Roll and Fill Dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, then evenly distribute the finely chopped peaches over the surface.
- Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30 to 40 minutes until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25 to 30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
- Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Glaze the Rolls: Drizzle the prepared glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving for a sweet finishing touch.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh peaches when in season, or well-drained canned peaches for convenience.
- You can substitute warm water for warm milk, but milk provides a richer dough.
- To make the rolls even more decadent, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling if desired.
- Ensure the dough rises in a warm, draft-free spot to help it double in size properly.
- Store leftover rolls in an airtight container and reheat gently before serving.
