This Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce is a sweet and spicy condiment that adds a tropical kick to any dish. Made with fresh pineapple, fiery habanero peppers, and a hint of sweetness, it’s perfect for adding a flavorful heat to grilled meats, tacos, eggs, and seafood.
Ingredients
Fresh Pineapple:
2 cups chopped;
Habanero Peppers:
4–6 stemmed (seeded for less heat);
Onion:
1/2 cup chopped;
Garlic Cloves:
2;
White Vinegar:
1/2 cup;
Lime Juice:
1/4 cup;
Honey or Agave Nectar:
1 tablespoon;
Salt:
1/2 teaspoon;
Olive Oil:
1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Cook Pineapple and Habaneros: Add pineapple and habaneros, cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Blend Ingredients: Transfer mixture to a blender. Add vinegar, lime juice, honey, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning or sweetness as needed.
- Store: Pour into sterilized glass bottles or jars. Refrigerate for up to 1 month. Shake before using.
Notes
- Wear gloves when handling habaneros to avoid skin irritation.
- For a milder sauce, use fewer peppers or remove all seeds and membranes.
