Description

These Rotel Sausage & Cream Cheese Crescents are a delicious and easy appetizer perfect for any gathering. With a savory filling of seasoned breakfast sausage, creamy cheese, and zesty diced tomatoes with green chilies wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, they bake up golden and irresistible in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 ounces ground breakfast sausage
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (10 ounces) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground breakfast sausage until it’s fully browned, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease to keep the filling from being too oily.
  3. Mix Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cooked and drained sausage, drained Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangular pieces along the perforations.
  5. Fill Crescents: Place about one tablespoon of the sausage and cheese mixture at the wide end of each crescent triangle. Carefully roll the dough from the wide end toward the tip, encasing the filling inside.
  6. Bake: Arrange the filled crescents evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Notes

  • Be sure to drain excess grease from the cooked sausage to prevent soggy crescents.
  • For extra spice, you can use hot Rotel tomatoes instead of mild.
  • Allow cream cheese to soften at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
  • These crescents can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
