Ingredients
Scale
For the Filling
- 8 ounces breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
For the Rolls
- 1 (8-ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks, until browned and fully cooked through. Drain any excess grease and transfer the cooked sausage to a mixing bowl.
- Make the Filling: To the bowl with sausage, add the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and chopped green onions if using. Stir everything together until well combined and creamy.
- Assemble Crescents: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles. Place about 1 tablespoon of the sausage and cream cheese mixture at the wide end of each triangle. Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle up toward the tip and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Optional Egg Wash: For a golden, glossy finish, lightly brush the tops of each crescent with the beaten egg.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 11 to 13 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or party appetizers.
- You can make these crescents ahead of time and reheat them in the oven.
- Try using spicy sausage or add shredded cheese for an extra burst of flavor.
