Potatoes:

Cheese Sauce:

- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk and cream. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Stir in 1 cup of cheese until melted.
- Layer Potatoes: Arrange half of the potatoes in the dish, pour half of the cheese sauce, then repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce. Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and tender. Let rest before serving.
