Description

Shrimp and Crab Nacho Biscuit Melts are a bold, cheesy, seafood-packed appetizer or light meal perfect for game day or casual gatherings. Buttery biscuit bases are topped with a creamy, spicy mixture of shrimp, crab, cheese, and taco spices, then broiled until bubbly and golden. Quick to prepare and irresistibly flavorful, these melts offer a hearty twist on classic nachos.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Base

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count)

Seafood Mixture

  • ½ pound cooked shrimp, chopped
  • ½ cup lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Toppings

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Garnishes

  • Chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Bake Biscuits: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slightly flatten each biscuit and place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the biscuits are puffed and lightly golden.
  2. Prepare Seafood Mixture: While the biscuits bake, combine chopped shrimp, crab meat, sour cream, mayonnaise, taco seasoning, garlic powder, green onions, jalapeño (if using), and half of both shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste, mixing until well combined.
  3. Create Wells in Biscuits: Remove the baked biscuits from the oven. Gently press down the centers to create a shallow well for the filling.
  4. Fill and Top Biscuits: Spoon a generous amount of the seafood mixture onto each biscuit’s center. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheeses on top.
  5. Bake until Melted: Return the filled biscuits to the oven and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  6. Optional Broil for Browning: For an extra golden and browned top, broil the melts for 1–2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each melt with chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice before serving warm and fresh out of the oven.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked shrimp and canned or fresh crab for convenience and faster preparation.
  • Add diced tomatoes or a dash of hot sauce for extra flavor and zing.
  • Best served warm and fresh out of the oven to enjoy the melty cheese and crispy biscuit texture.
