Description

A deliciously spicy and sweet Hawaiian meatball recipe made effortlessly in a crockpot. These tender pre-cooked meatballs are simmered in a tangy BBQ sauce with pineapple chunks, garlic, and a kick of red pepper flakes, perfect for parties or easy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Mixture

  • 2 cups BBQ sauce (Kinders brand recommended)
  • 20 oz can pineapple chunks, drained well
  • 5 cloves garlic, grated or minced
  • 1/21 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 green onions, diced

Main

  • 32 oz bag frozen pre-cooked meatballs (homestyle variety recommended)
  • Extra green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine sauce: In the slow cooker, mix together the BBQ sauce, well-drained pineapple chunks, grated garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and diced green onions until well combined.
  2. Add meatballs: Stir in the frozen pre-cooked meatballs, making sure each meatball is thoroughly coated with the flavorful sauce mixture.
  3. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or alternatively on HIGH for 2 to 2.5 hours. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and sauce distribution.
  4. Serve: Once cooked, garnish with additional green onions if desired and serve the spicy Hawaiian meatballs hot as a comforting appetizer or main dish.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
  • Use pre-cooked frozen meatballs for convenience and consistent results.
  • Drain the pineapple chunks well to avoid excess liquid diluting the sauce.
  • These meatballs can be served over rice or noodles for a more substantial meal.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat nicely.
