Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 1 cup canned or jarred artichoke hearts, chopped
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Dough
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Egg Wash
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Mix Filling Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the thawed and drained spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the thawed sheet of puff pastry. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter.
- Fill Pastry Squares: Place about 1 tablespoon of the spinach and artichoke mixture into the center of each square. Gently fold the corners of each square slightly toward the center to partially enclose the filling while leaving some of it exposed.
- Apply Egg Wash: Using a brush, lightly coat the edges of each pastry square with the beaten egg to help them brown and seal slightly during baking.
- Bake: Arrange the filled puff pastry squares on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastries are golden, puffed, and cooked through.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving these delicious warm spinach artichoke bites as a perfect appetizer or snack.
Notes
- For a different shape, use mini muffin tins to make cup-shaped bites.
- Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy variation.
