Description

Strawberry Napoleons are a delightful French-inspired dessert featuring flaky puff pastry layers filled with sweetened fresh strawberries and light, fluffy whipped cream. Perfect for summer, this elegant yet easy-to-make treat combines crisp pastry with luscious cream and juicy berries for a refreshing and indulgent finish to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Strawberries

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional

  • Extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Bake Puff Pastry: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut the thawed puff pastry sheet into 9 equal rectangles, place them on the baking sheet, and prick each piece lightly with a fork to prevent excessive puffing. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and crisp, then remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
  2. Prepare Strawberries: While the pastry cools, combine the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar in a bowl. Toss gently and set aside to macerate, which enhances their sweetness and flavor.
  3. Make Whipped Cream: In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract using a hand mixer until stiff peaks form, ensuring a smooth and creamy texture perfect for layering.
  4. Assemble the Napoleons: Carefully slice each puff pastry rectangle horizontally into two equal halves. Spread or pipe a generous layer of whipped cream on the bottom half, top with the sugared strawberries, then cover with the top half of the pastry.
  5. Finish and Serve: Dust the assembled Napoleons with extra powdered sugar if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispness of the pastry and the freshness of the cream and strawberries.

Notes

  • Use store-bought whipped topping to save time.
  • Enhance flavor with a drizzle of melted chocolate or balsamic glaze.
  • Assemble just before serving to keep the pastry crisp and prevent sogginess.
