Description

This Stuffed Mushroom Dip is a warm, cheesy appetizer that combines the flavors of classic stuffed mushrooms into a creamy, baked dip. Featuring a blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise with sautéed garlic and mushrooms, then baked to golden perfection with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, it’s perfect for game days, parties, or any occasion that calls for a comforting, savory dip.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

Mushroom Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Cheese and Garnish

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the dip later.
  2. Sauté Mushrooms: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the finely chopped mushrooms and cook for 6–8 minutes until they are browned and most of their moisture has evaporated. This step concentrates the mushroom flavor.
  3. Add Aromatics and Seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, dried thyme, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the mixture is fragrant.
  4. Mix the Base: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Combine Mushroom Mixture: Fold the sautéed mushroom mixture into the creamy cheese base until everything is well combined.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the mixture to a greased 8-inch baking dish or a small casserole dish. Evenly sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
  7. Bake the Dip: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the cheese on top is golden brown.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh chopped parsley or green onions, if desired. Serve the dip warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • This dip mimics the filling of classic stuffed mushrooms, offering a comforting and crowd-pleasing appetizer.
  • For a heartier dip, add crumbled cooked sausage or bacon to the mushroom mixture before baking.
  • The dip can be assembled ahead of time; just bake it right before serving to keep it fresh and bubbly.
