Ingredients
Scale
Cheese
- 1 block (7 oz) feta cheese, drained
Glaze
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1½ tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 small garlic clove, grated or minced
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- Chopped scallions
- Toasted sesame seeds
Serving
- Crusty bread or crackers, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the drained block of feta cheese in a small oven-safe baking dish or skillet. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the feta to keep it moist during baking.
- Bake the Feta: Bake the feta for 15–20 minutes until it becomes soft and slightly golden around the edges, which will enhance its creaminess and flavor.
- Make the Glaze: While the feta bakes, whisk together the gochujang, honey, rice vinegar (or lemon juice), soy sauce, and grated garlic in a small bowl until the mixture is smooth.
- Apply the Glaze: Remove the baked feta from the oven and spoon the prepared gochujang honey glaze evenly over the top of the cheese.
- Final Bake: Return the feta to the oven and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until the glaze is bubbling and slightly caramelized.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle chopped scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if you like extra heat. Serve warm with crusty bread or crackers to enjoy as a flavorful appetizer or party dip.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of gochujang and honey to balance the spice and sweetness according to your preference.
- This dish works wonderfully as an appetizer or party dip alongside roasted vegetables or grilled meats.
- For a non-spicy version, reduce or omit the red pepper flakes and gochujang.
- Ensure the feta cheese is well-drained before baking to prevent excess moisture.
- Store leftovers refrigerated and consume within 2-3 days for best freshness.
