Description

These Teriyaki Beef Bowls are a delicious and satisfying meal that comes together quickly on a busy weeknight. Savory ground beef cooked in a homemade teriyaki sauce, served over steamed rice and veggies, makes for a flavorful Asian-inspired dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Teriyaki Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For Serving:

  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli or stir-fry vegetables
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil: In a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook ground beef: Until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add garlic and ginger: Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes: Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Add cornstarch slurry: Cook until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  6. To serve: Spoon rice into bowls, top with teriyaki beef and steamed vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • Add shredded carrots or edamame for more color and crunch.
